Hello Pack 239!

Some important information on what is happening with your Pack:

Day Camp Coordinator – We need someone to coordinate Pack 239’s Day Camp attendance next summer.
Please contact me as soon as possible.

Training – Notice to all Pack 239 Leaders that there will be a training session this Saturday, November 3rd, 7:30a - 3:30p at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bloomington (8600 Freemont Avenue South). You can register or get more information
by emailing our District Training Chair at Al@Bongaarts.org I encourage all Leaders to attend and get updated training.
Pack 239 pays for your training.
Also, new leaders (and leaders who have not taken this training in the past two years) need to go online and take the
Youth Protection Training as soon as possible. (See Home page).

Tiger Growlll – Tigers! This is YOUR event! There is a special event for Tiger Cub Scouts on November 10 from 8:30 – 11:30. It is called Tiger Growlll and it is a chance for the new Cubs to spend half a day doing fun things such as singing, crafts, games, etc. The form is attached for sign-up.

Bowling – Following our “Wreath Delivery” on November 17th – we will gather at Burnsville Bowl in Burnsville for an hour of bowling from 3:30 – 4:30p. The cost is $8. This includes an hour of bowling and shoe rental. In order to reserve lanes, pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Please contact Robin Koll (erkoll@juno.com) to reserve your spot. Thank you Robin for organizing this event!

Feed My Starving Children – Pack 239 has reserved January 14, 2008 as the night we will get together at Feed My Starving Children in Chanhassen (Eagan is booked solid…). For now, write this date down as the date we will go and package food to be shipped to the needy across the globe. More details will follow. Thank you Kevin McGovern for planning this event for the Pack!

Polar Cubs – February 16th (9a-3p) - Polar Cubs 2008 at Phillippo Scout Reservation - Cannon Falls, MN
A one-day experience filled with plenty of fun, adventure, activity, and advancement opportunities. Some of the activities at Polar Cubs have included snow-tubing, broomball, obstacle course, winter nature activities, crafts,snowshoeing, capture the flag, and snow golf.
Webelos have the opportunity to be in a special Webelos program at Polar Cubs, designed just for them to learn about winter survival, animals and outdoor sports.
A hot lunch is provided in the camp dining hall for everyone. Scouts and parents will learn how to keep warm and stay dry in the snow and cold.
Polar Cubs Day Camp is held January-March at Phillippo Scout Reservation in Cannon Falls, MN – Please contact Rob as soon as possible to reserve your spot. Thank you Rob for taking the initiative!

Leave No Trace - Come learn the 7 principles of Leave No Trace. This class is a great camping introduction for Cub Scouts. The purpose is to teach how to camp in the woods and leave no trace that you were there. This seminar will be held on December 12th and February 6th, 6:30pm at REI. The class size is limited to 30 people, but fills-up fast. The cost is free and last about one hour. Contact me to register.

BIG Gear Talk for Webelos - Do you want to know what equipment you will need when you transition to Boy Scouts? Will your Sponge Bob sleeping bag make the cut? Do you really need a GPS ? This class will answer all the Scouts and their parent’s questions.
This year it is being held at GANDER MOUNTAIN in Lakeville on November 28th at 7pm. This class is open to ALL Webelos and their parents. There is NO cost for this event. Registration is NOT required.

Webelos Wild/Camping – For those Webelos who attended the Webelos Wild, 
The following requirements were completed at this Years event:

Forester:   3, 4, 6, 7, 9   COMPLETED

Readyman:  2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 12, 15  Will need to finish the character connection (#1) and safe swim (#8) to complete this Activity Pin

Citizen:  2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,  Will need to complete Character connection (#1) and any 2 requirements from 9-17  to finish this badge

Outdoorsman: 1 (if camped overnight), 4, 5, 7,8 (if they cooked at their campsite) , 11 Need to complete #6 –conservtion project to complete this Activity Pin

Scholarships – No Scout should be left out of an activity that will make a positive change in his life. Pack 239 offers scholarships for those who need assistance. Let me know how we can help.

Leaders - I would encourage all Pack 239 Leaders to subscribe to the Dan Patch District Yahoo Group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DanPatch/ This is a good way to get a pulse of what is happening at the District level.
